Should your storage be licenced?Licensing RequirementsIf you own dangerous goods or occupy a site where dangerous goods are stored, then you must ensure that the site has a licence from your state Workcover Authority to keep those dangerous goods, (if the quantities are large enough). The quantity you may store without a licence depends on what goods you have on site. Call Eagle or your local WorkCover Authority for a list of the quantities you may keep without a licence. Dangerous goods must be kept in accordance with the applicable Dangerous Goods Regulations, whether or not a licence is needed. Occupiers ResponsibilityIt is your responsibility to find out whether the goods you store are classified as dangerous goods. Some common dangerous goods are petrol, LP Gas, oxygen, and acetylene in cylinders, pool chlorine, some pesticides and weedicides, flammable solvents (like methylated spirits, acetone and turps), kerosene, some paints and glues, combustible liquids (like diesel), acids and caustic soda. ExplosivesExplosives including fireworks are also dangerous goods. |
