The RULES have changed !!!
From the 1st July 1999, any person who becomes aware of land being contaminated
which presents a significant risk, must report it in writing to the EPA. Failure to do so
will involve heavy fines.
Stage 1 - Preliminary site investigation
 | Identify all past and present potentially contaminating activities |
 | Identify potential contamination types |
 | Discuss the site condition |
 | Provide a preliminary assessment of site contamination |
 | Assess the need for further investigations |
Stage 2 - Detailed site investigation
 | Issues raised in the preliminary investigation |
 | The type, extent and level of contamination |
Stage 3 - Site remedial action plan
 | Set remediation goals that will be suitable for the proposed use |
 | Document all detail procedures and plans |
 | Establish environmental safe guards |
 | Identify and include proof of necessary approvals and licenses |
Stage 4 - Validation and site monitoring reports
 | Validation report and where appropriate, ongoing site monitoring |
